Submit an idea
The call for ideas has now closed. We’ll be announcing the ideas we’ll be building at the Jailbrake weekend on the afternoon of Tuesday 9th March.
The call for ideas is open until midday on Friday 5th March.
Once you’ve answered as many questions as you can, submit your idea by sending it to Katherine(AT)sicamp(DOT)org.
Have a look at our ideas criteria and examples to find out more about what we’re looking for. You can read about ideas already submitted here.
Please keep your answers as concise as possible – it doesn’t have to be a perfect proposal, we’re after a kernel of an idea!
Your idea
- In less than 100 words, what is your idea?
- What is the problem your idea could address?
- What’s really new about your idea?
- What kind of impact will your idea make? (Think of how many people might benefit form it, who would those people be, and in what way?)
- Why might people want to commission or pay for your idea?
- What do you think the biggest challenge will be to making this work in practice?
Stage of development
- What inspired you to come up with your idea in the first place?
- From 1-5, what stage of development would you say your idea was in?
1 being very early stages: you’ve thought about if it might work, had a look around to see if it already exists and discussed it with a couple of people, but nothing more. 5 being fairly well developed, with a potential group of co-developers, partners or supporters.
Please also give brief details, including the number of people who you’d like to come to the Jailbrake weekend, who they are and what their roles in coming up with your idea were.
What can we do for you?
- Tell us a little bit about what you think your idea needs to get off the ground at this stage: software development? Staff time? Partners to test it? Mentoring and advice?
- We’re looking for project ideas that have the potential to be tested in a live environment. Please also give brief details of the kind of support you might need to do this.
- If you’re not able to take the idea onward after the weekend, would you be happy for someone else to take ownership of your idea and move it forward?
Tell us a bit about yourself
- What’s your day job?
- What do you do for fun?
- What do you think the best tool on the web is?
- Tell us anything else you think we should know, but keep it to less than 150 words.
Privacy
- Do you want your idea to be ‘open’ or ‘closed’?
We think great ideas should be shared with the world so we’d like to post your idea on our site here with space for others to comment and for you to post feedback. But, if you prefer, you can opt to keep your idea ‘closed’ and it will not be released online until the ideas for the final selection have been made, at which point it will be made public.
And we promise not to share your email address with anyone else.
Finally, remember to give us a name for your idea, or we’ll have to make one up for you!
